Recently I learned that I have multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells in my bone marrow. Considering my family history, the cancer diagnosis didn't really surprise me, but the type certainly threw me for a loop. Multiple myeloma? I had heard the name before, but I knew no one who had had it nor did I know anything about it. Now I'm fast-tracking to learn everything I can. As Sir Francis Bacon is purported to have said, "scientia potentia est" -- knowledge is power.
This blog is my way of sharing my knowledge with you and inviting any of you who are inspired to share yours with me -- about any subject that comes up, and there will be a multitude of subjects. Something you may not know it about me is that I have a deep and abiding faith - in God, in family, in friendship. I have faith that "all things work together for good to those who love God..." (Romans 8:28). I certainly do, so I know that whatever happens will be for my good. In the process, I hope to generate good things in the lives of my family and friends who share this journey with me.
I am new to this blogging stuff, but I thought it would provide an option for my friends who aren't too keen about social media but would like to keep tabs on what's going on with me. You may already have questions about my condition, and I will talk about it more in other posts. For now, I'll leave this here for you to absorb and begin to formulate questions for me that I will do my best to answer.
If you pray, please add my name to your prayer list. I will do the same for you.
