UPDATE: From Nothing Day to Nothing Week

Writer: Kelly DiazKelly Diaz

You guessed it. It will be another week. And that’s if the rhinovirus is gone by Friday.

Nancy called a little while ago. I have had a chance to ruminate a bit on what she told me so I could adjust my attitude before writing this quick update. I hate negativity, but sometimes that’s just how everything feels. Fortunately, these feelings generally pass quickly.

I definitely have plans early Friday morning. At 8:15 I will be on the 3rd floor of the Stephenson Cancer Center to have my CVC flushed and the bandages changed. Immediately afterwards, I will go downstairs to the clinic on the 2nd floor to once again get a long Q-tip inserted into my nose and twirled for 10 seconds to see if the despised rhinovirus is gone, and of course, to make sure I don’t have Covid—two negatives that are definitely positive things. If that is the case—and that is a big IF because colds tend to linger forever—I will be scheduled for admission to the hospital next Tuesday, 1 June.

I can’t begin to tell you how frustrated I feel. I will try to focus on the upside of things. Unfortunately, at the moment, everything looks a little blurry.
